Jupiter - Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system and the fifth planet from the Sun. Jupiter, like the other outer planets beyond Mars, is a gas giant. It is made of gases and has very little solid surface underneath its cloudy atmosphere (although it may have a small solid core). The most prominent features of the planet, which can be seen even with a small telescope, are it's two main cloud bands. These bands can easily be seen in this photo. Although it looks static here, Jupiter's atmosphere is tumultuous with storms, lightening and winds reaching hundreds of kilometers per hour.
