Crescent Tip - Through a telescope, the Moon reveals a wealth of features, perhaps the most prominent of which are its numerous craters. Several craters appear in this image of a magnified tip of the crescent moon. Indeed, the lunar terrain is not smooth; there are numerous ups and downs. At this magnification, it is apparent that the terminator, which is lower edge between light and dark in this picture, is not a smooth line, but is jagged and speckled with tips of lunar terrain that poke up just enough to catch the Sun's light.
